Day by day
Arrival Day: Welcome to Billings
Fly into Billings, Montana, and take the shuttle from the airport to your hotel. Your first night is at a Billings hotel. Tomorrow, the adventure begins.
Day 1: Cody and the American West
We pick you up at your Billings hotel and head for Cody. We tour the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Lunch is on your own, so wander downtown Cody. In the evening, we gather for a catered dinner.
On our June through August trips, we end the night at the Cody Nite Rodeo, and Dan gives you a demonstration beforehand so you know just what you’re watching. On our May and September trips, something else takes the rodeo’s place. We’ll share the details soon.

Day 2: Into Yellowstone
We follow the North Fork Highway into the park, with stories along the way. We stop at a lake overlook, Fishing Bridge, Artist Point and the Brink of the Upper Falls, with a picnic lunch on the way. Then it’s wildlife watching in Lamar Valley. (We can’t promise which animals will show up!) We settle in at Lake Hotel, on the shores of Yellowstone Lake.
Day 3: Geysers, color and a little music
Old Faithful takes center stage today, with lunch on your own in the Old Faithful area. Then it’s Fountain Paint Pots and Grand Prismatic. You choose: a short hike with Dan to see Grand Prismatic from above, or a cell phone photography workshop with Wendy. Back at Lake Hotel, we trade our guiding hats for our instruments and play a private concert for you.

Day 4: Old West stories and a mountain farewell
We head back toward Cody for the Buffalo Bill Dam Visitor Center and Old Trail Town, with a picnic lunch along the way. Weather permitting, we cross the Beartooth Highway to Red Lodge, Montana, for dinner. If weather closes the Beartooth, we visit Heart Mountain instead. Then it’s on to Billings for your last night.
Departure Day: Until next time
A hotel shuttle takes you to the Billings airport. Shuttle service and times depend on your hotel and flight.
Weather and park conditions can shape any day, so we may adjust the plan along the way.
